To enable the urban poor particularly the poorest of the poor to eliminate poverty and vulnerability in a sustainable manner and improve their quality of life in urban areas.


To promote, strengthen and nurture self-sustainable institutions of the poor and through them, address all poverty issues like access to credit,financial freedom, health, disability and vulnerability.

Under the National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM) program, the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA)  is working to empower urban poor through various initiatives in the areas of livelihoods  promotion, Skill upgradaion, Health& Nutrition and Social Security in convergence  with different line departments and reputed Organizations. In Andhra Pradesh 2.07 lakh SHGs and 7,320 Slum Level Federations and 141 Town Level Federations and 10,368 Mahila Arogya Samithies are functioning actively.
